- How would you describe your new song to someone who hasn’t heard it yet? What emotions do you want to convey?
“Cosmos” is not just a song but an invitation to embark on an interstellar journey through emotions and art, celebrating the beauty of diversity and the overwhelming power of love.
2. What was the main inspiration for the song? Can you share personal stories or influences that guided you?
As a child I had a dream of traveling in space, and this even resulted in intensive astronomy studies in adolescence. And of course the genre of space opera is a fascinating, immense spectacle. One of the films that influenced me was undoubtedly Luc Besson‘s masterpiece The Fifth Element.
3. How did the song come about? Were there any collaborations?
A new constellation in the musical universe is born. Songwriter and producer from Sweden, Maria Eriksson, is behind “Cosmos” , the latest collaboration of the Swedish tenor Ivanhoe and the rising Italian star Chanel Dilecta. Ivanhoe, who is known for blending operatic pop, pop and soft rock, infuses his music with mysticism, nostalgia, and a quest for romance. Chanel Dilecta who’s now fifteen, has been doing song and ballet since the age of four, also masters piano, modern dance, and stage art. She represented Italy at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2022 with her song “BLA BLA BLA”, showcasing her multifaceted talent at this international venue.
4. Which artists or experiences influenced your sound?
My musical perception of the world was certainly influenced by two big worlds of music: the world of classical music with such bright representatives of pop opera as Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Il Volo, Il Divo and the world of pop music, which can now be called classical, for example Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Roxette.
5. Is there a particular moment related to the creation of the song that you remember with pleasure or satisfaction?
“Cosmos” delves into themes of love and connection, using celestial metaphors to portray the journey of destined souls. The production is a true symphony of international collaboration consisting of two maxi singles Cosmos and Cosmos Remixed: the first disc features the original track and various stylistic interpretations, while the second one offers remixes in various dance styles. The musicians from countries scattered throughout the vast world such as Sweden, Ukraine, Italy, Tunisia, Austria, Spain, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Costa Rica and Argentina took part in creating this unique sound versions and dance remixes. This fusion of the different musical cultures brings together separate musical “planets” into universal harmony.
6. What emotions do you hope to convey to the public?
The songwriter and composer Maria Eriksson filled the Cosmos with a melodic, harmonious, energetic and emotional sound that sincerely and powerfully reaches out to listeners both in the mainstream and in more alternative and art-sensitive galaxies. We hope that the listener’s feelings will vary between a deep romantic connection and a desire for an immense journey in the rhythms of space. The lyrics express a deep yearning for connection and intimacy, using cosmic imagery to illustrate the bond between the speaker and their significant other. The speaker begins by reassuring their partner that they will always be there for them, emphasizing a strong emotional support system. The reference to being soulmates suggests a profound connection that transcends ordinary relationships. In the chorus, the imagery of flying back to ”my Earth” and landing on ”my planet” indicates a desire for the partner to return to a place of emotional safety and love. The idea that the partner’s ”planet is unknown” and ”uninhabited” might symbolize feelings of loneliness or isolation that the partner experiences, suggesting that they are searching for understanding and belonging. The second verse introduces a sense of vulnerability, as the speaker acknowledges their love might feel burdensome to their partner. The metaphor of being ”a thief on your Instagram” implies a sense of longing and possibly jealousy, as the speaker feels disconnected despite being physically or digitally present in their partner’s life. The bridge further deepens the cosmic metaphor, highlighting the vastness of the universe and the potential for a “space romance”. It suggests that while the cosmos may be infinite, the speaker desires to make a meaningful connection that can withstand the test of time and distance. I can tell you a little secret that the work on the Space theme continues and I hope that soon the listeners will be able to hear the continuation.
8. What message would you like to give to those who follow you or discover you for the first time?
Please land on our planet and enter the world of Ivanhoe a Swedish tenor whose most notable feature is a mixture of emotions, roots, genres, and styles like operatic pop, classical crossover, soft rock and classical pop. Interwoven with mysticism, nostalgia, and a longing for romance it touches the feelings that have been put aside in the shadow of everyday life but live on in wait of being awake. When the aggressive thump from the latest hits fades out and catchy but empty lyrics disappear like the waves in the sand, we take a second and stare into the dark void of our souls. That’s when Ivanhoe’s warm and soothing voice along with the tones of a romantic melody will act as an illuminating remedy. Find your comfort and peace among life’s stress and modern music’s crazy rhythm. Inspired by classical opera and fantastic ballads from the middle of the 1900 hundreds, Ivanhoe adds a modern, but not intrusive, beat to his music.
