Antipathy: Hatred, Emptiness, and Anger in Music
Shamoon Khatri is back with a new single that promises to be thought-provoking: “Antipathy”. Released on November 7, 2025, this track sits at the vibrant crossroad of Ambient Rock and Pop, offering a sound that is both introspective and powerful. The choice of the Ambient Rock/Pop genre suggests a rich sonic texture, characterized by the expansive soundscapes typical of Ambient, fused with the more immediate and accessible melodic structures of Pop.
“Antipathy” is a sonic exploration of the emotion of hatred or aversion felt towards an individual or society at large. However, the track delves deeper, touching on core emotions such as seething anger, a feeling of internal emptiness, and the pain of a broken heart. The lyrics also reflect a sense of loss or drifting, yet simultaneously a desire for liberation and the attempt to turn the page and move forward. Shamoon Khatri composed and arranged the piece in May 2025, and then recorded and released it between October and November, transforming a complex feeling into an engaging musical experience.
A Talented Team Behind the Track
Behind the “Antipathy” project is a team of talented musicians, guided by the vision of Shamoon Khatri, who handled the composition and full production. His central role ensured that the arrangement and final atmosphere of the track accurately reflected the intense themes of the lyrics.
Lending vocals to the track is Megen Simpson, whose interpretation is crucial for conveying the central emotion. William Louis contributed with his guitar and bass performances, adding a rock depth to the ambient foundation. The lyrics, fundamental for communicating the emotional message, were co-written by Jared Tasho and Shamoon Khatri himself.
