TreePines talks about “Mirage Drift”: an organic house journey through ethnic sounds, hypnotic atmospheres and evocative desert sunsets.
1 – How would you describe your new song to someone who hasn’t heard it yet? What emotions do you want to convey?
“Mirage Drift” is an atmospheric electronic track that blends chillout, downtempo and cinematic elements. It is built around a sense of movement, almost like travelling through a landscape that constantly changes between reality and imagination. I wanted the track to feel immersive, warm and slightly mysterious, allowing the listener to disconnect for a few minutes and create their own images and emotions.
2 – What was the main inspiration for the song? Can you share personal stories or influences that guided you?
A lot of my inspiration comes from travelling, nature and especially the landscapes I experience through mountaineering. There is something powerful about being surrounded by open space, silence and changing light, and those experiences often find their way into my music.
With “Mirage Drift”, I wanted to capture that feeling of moving toward something in the distance, something that seems real, disappears, and then takes another form. It is about movement, memory and the space between what we see and what we imagine.
3 – How did the song come about? Were there any collaborations?
The track developed naturally in the studio, starting from atmosphere and texture rather than from a conventional song structure. I usually begin with a sound, a melodic idea or a particular mood and allow the track to evolve from there.
“Mirage Drift” is a TreePines production, created and developed independently. For me, the production process is very personal: composition, sound design and atmosphere all work together to create one complete experience.
4 – Which artists or experiences influenced your sound?
My sound has been shaped by many years of listening to and creating electronic music, especially chillout, ambient, downtempo and Mediterranean electronic music. Artists such as Nacho Sotomayor and projects connected with the Café de Anatolia sound have been part of that wider musical landscape and inspiration.
But my influences go beyond individual artists. Travel, the Mediterranean, mountains, solitude and nature have probably influenced my music just as much. With TreePines, I try to bring those worlds together, electronic production with organic atmosphere, emotion and a strong sense of place.
5 – Is there a particular moment related to the creation of the song that you remember with pleasure or satisfaction?
The most satisfying moment is always when all the separate elements suddenly become one piece of music. With “Mirage Drift”, there was a point during the production when the atmosphere, rhythm and melody finally connected and the track created exactly the visual feeling I had imagined.
That is usually the moment when I know a track is finished, not because there is nothing else to change technically, but because it has found its own identity.
6 – What emotions do you hope to convey to the public?
I want listeners to experience a sense of freedom, calm and emotional movement. I don’t want to define exactly what someone should feel, because instrumental electronic music can become very personal.
If “Mirage Drift” makes someone stop for a moment, travel somewhere through their imagination, remember a place or simply escape from everyday noise, then the track has achieved what I wanted.
7 – What can we expect from the future? Do you have any news coming?
TreePines is an ongoing project, so there is always new music developing. After recent releases such as “Aegean Bliss” and “Mirage Drift”, I am continuing to work on new material while expanding the sound and visual identity of the project.
At the same time, TreePines is connected to ChilloutTreePines Radio, a project I created more than a decade ago around chillout and electronic music. The goal is to keep releasing music, exploring new ideas and gradually bringing the entire TreePines world to a wider international audience.
8 – What message would you like to give to those who follow you or discover you for the first time?
To those who have been following TreePines, thank you for being part of the journey. And to anyone discovering the project for the first time, I would simply say: listen without expectations and let the music take you wherever it takes you.
TreePines has always been about atmosphere, emotion and escape. In a world that moves very fast, sometimes music can give us a few minutes to slow down, imagine and reconnect with ourselves. That is what I hope to share through every release.
