Ronald Mkiza talks about his 2025 single “The Hills,” creative drive, and plans for consistent, honest hip hop.
- How would you describe your new song to someone who hasn’t heard it yet? What emotions do you want to convey?
Its energetic it is fun it is honest, it represents my new direction that I plan to stay on. A direction of more direct approach to song making, less contemplating if it will work and more focus on making it work.
2. What was the main inspiration for the song? Can you share personal stories or influences that guided you?
There was no inspiration, I’m off waiting for inspiration to come. I just stumbled upon the beat and right then and there went to work.
3. How did the song come about? Were there any collaborations?
Really I just happen to stumble upon this beat on youtube and felt it was sick. As soon as I acquired it I had already booked the studio, I like to go there and write it helps me stay focused.
4. Which artists or experiences influenced your sound?
All the classics, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Ye, Jay Z, OutKast, Biggie Smalls

5. Is there a particular moment related to the creation of the song that you remember with pleasure or satisfaction?
Not really, but for me as cliche as it sounds its always a pleasure of going through the process of turning nothing into something. The process of creating, writing, recording and then later on having a full song. I can never get tired of it.
6. What emotions do you hope to convey to the public?
I jsut want them to have a good time with this. Music is something that fits in most scenarios and that’s what I would like to evolve into as an artist. I want to give you the soundtrack of your best and worst moments.
7. What can we expect from the future? Do you have any news coming?
Expect consistency. Before I had a tendency to drop a song and be done with off. I’m done with that approach I want to continously release music and follow a monthly release schedule. Then more performances too!
8. What message would you like to give to those who follow you or discover you for the first time?
If you are new here, stick around I got so much more to showcase. For the few fans I have, I promise to reward your support!
