In “Little Things”, Ryan O’Neill highlights the overlooked joys in love. Discover the heart behind his new country hit.

  1. How would you describe your new song to someone who hasn’t heard it yet? What emotions do you want to convey?

“Little Things” is a song that pays respect to the great things in a relationship that perhaps many people seem to over look. When you take a step back and truly reflect on what makes you happy in your relationship, start adding up the “Little Things” and see where it leaves you. I can assure you, it will make you appreciate them a lot more. I believe this song can resonate with anyone who has been or is currently in a relationship, you begin to reflect on your purest forms of happiness in love. I believe “Little Things” just hits home.

2 . What was the main inspiration for the song? Can you share personal stories or influences that guided you?

For myself, the lyrics dig deeper into helping people find pure happiness in their relationships. From the moment I heard the first verse of the song, I knew it was something very special and what a privilege it has been to be able to add my own flare to this hit. Speaking from experience, I can thoroughly appreciate the small things in love that have such a lasting impact. In fact, true love has helped shape my songs around my own experiences. This song has helped me connect to my listeners on a much deeper level. Love works in mysterious ways!

3 . How did the song come about? Were there any collaborations?

“Little Things” comes from a deeper place, admitting your purest form of love from the smallest niches and gestures to the biggest aspects of your relationship. Love is so much bigger than we know. It runs so much deeper than we can truly comprehend. Andrew Van Etten and Brandon White really knew the message they needed to convey and the lyrics really hit the nail on the head. I’m so thrilled to have had the opportunity to put my spin on such a special song.

4 . Which artists or experiences influenced your sound?

I have been described as a blend of Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and Rascal Flatts, all of whom have influenced my work in both my writing and production. Throughout my career in the music industry, I have worked with various multi-faceted, award-winning producers and writers such as Jeff Huskins, Josh Ford, Brett Boyett, Corey Lee Barker, and many more. Each day I learn more about the ever changing landscape of this industry but that’s where I find a lot of inspiration, don’t fear what you can’t control.

5 . Is there a particular moment related to the creation of the song that you remember with pleasure or satisfaction?

Personally, my favorite aspect of creating a song is taking it into the studio and bringing it to life. To this day, it blows my mind every time I go into the studio to cut new music and simply watching how the engineers, producers, and band take it from a demo to a radio masterpiece. Specifically related to “Little Things” , my favorite aspect was recording the harmonic intro which you also hear throughout the song. I felt goosebumps when we recorded it! It’s really something special.

6 . What emotions do you hope to convey to the public?

Ultimately, I hope that people will hear this song and pause for a moment to reflect on how this impacts their life and the little things that truly appreciate. Knowing that someone has listened to this song and smiled, that’s what means the most to me. It’s not about the big things, a house, a car, a bank account, a trip, instead it’s about the small quirks and gestures that really make you happy. Appreciate the little things in life, that’s all you need.

7 . What can we expect from the future? Do you have any news coming?

So far, 2025 has been a really exciting year as I’ve had the privilege to release quite a few new songs and the response has been almost overwhelming. The feedback has been great and with that, there is no plan of slowing down. There will be more music. There will be more live shows. There will be more of Ryan O’Neill.

8 . What message would you like to give to those who follow you or discover you for the first time?

My message to new listeners is this:

I create music for people from all walks of life, all ages: I want my music to be relatable for any listener. Music has a unique ability to connect with people on a deeper level than speaking words can. That being said, I want to translate all these life experiences through my music. If it’s helped even one person, I’ve done my job. As Tom Cochran emphasized, “Life’s like the road that you’ve traveled on, one day here and the next day gone”. Come on this journey with me and let’s see where the road takes us.
