Interview with RANEYA: Discover the inspiration and deeper meaning behind “Where We Are”, a touching song about connection beyond distance.
1 – How would you describe your new song to someone who hasn’t heard it yet? What emotions do you want to convey?
“Where We Are” is a soft and emotional pop song about love, distance and the connection we keep with the people who mean the most to us.
The song is inspired by the feeling of missing someone who is far away, while knowing that distance cannot erase the bond you share with them. I wanted the track to feel intimate and warm, with a sense of nostalgia, but also comfort and gratitude.
My hope is that listeners can connect with it through their own experiences of distance, family, love or simply missing someone they care about.
2 – What was the main inspiration for the song? Can you share personal stories or influences that guided you?
The main inspiration behind “Where We Are” is my parents, who live far away from me.
They have played such an important role in my life and have given me so much of who I am today. I wanted to write something about them, not only because I miss them, but because I wanted to express how much their presence and everything they have taught me continue to stay with me despite the distance.
The song came from a very simple feeling: sometimes you can be far away from someone physically, but they can still feel incredibly close to your heart.
3 – How did the song come about? Were there any collaborations?
“Where We Are” started with the idea of putting my feelings about distance and family into a song. I wanted the lyrics to remain honest and personal rather than trying to create a complicated story.
The song gradually developed around the emotion I wanted to convey: something soft, intimate and nostalgic, but still hopeful.
4 – Is there a particular moment related to the creation of the song that you remember with pleasure or satisfaction?
While working on it, I understood that I was putting into words something I had been feeling for a long time but had never really expressed. Hearing the song come together and realizing that those personal emotions could become something other people might relate to was very special to me.
5 – What emotions do you hope to convey to the public?
I hope people feel a mix of nostalgia, warmth and emotion when they listen to “Where We Are”.
Most importantly, I want the song to make people think about someone they love. I hope it can remind them that even when distance separates us from the people we care about, the connection we have with them can remain incredibly strong.
6 – What can we expect from the future? Do you have any news coming?
“Where We Are” is an important step in the development of my project as RANEYA, and I definitely want to keep building from here.
I am currently working on new music and continuing to develop my artistic identity, with the goal of releasing more songs
There is definitely more to come, and I’m excited to let people discover the next chapters.
