Wolfgang Lohr’s Eclectic Journey and Global Success
Composer, producer, remixer, and DJ Wolfgang Lohr was born in Bad Segeberg and raised in Lübeck, Germany, along the Baltic Sea, where he began his musical career playing trumpet, singing, and writing songs for the ska band DaSKArtell. Moving to Berlin in 2007 to immerse himself in the city’s vibrant electro scene, Lohr launched several notable projects, including the Disco-House duo DINKS and the Tech House outfit Dorade. With a catalog of over 150 original tracks and remixes (having worked with artists such as Parov Stelar, Felix Jaehn, Alle Farben, The Manhattan Transfer, and In-Grid), he achieved global prominence with his iconic cover of Ray Charles’s “Hit the Road Jack”, which surpassed 90 million streams. On the entrepreneurial front, he founded the music blog FDF (which evolved into a House music label) and the Electro Swing Thing label itself, which stands today as a premier home for the crossover genre and its artists.
