Marco De Luca returns with the album “LA STAGIONE DECISIVA” and the single “VIDEOSPAZZATURA”. A prophetic song, written 30 years ago, denouncing pain TV.
Alternative Roots: From New Wave to Rock
Marco De Luca, a singer-songwriter originally from Atri, Teramo, built his artistic career on solid foundations rooted in the gothic and melancholic sound of the 90s. He debuted in that decade with the group Sine, a band strongly inspired by the sound of The Cure, who are pillars of alternative rock and New Wave. Sine performed covers of this group, highlighting his early predilection for the genre. This influence shaped De Luca’s initial sound.
After Sine disbanded in the early 2000s, the artist embarked on a more mature and introspective solo path. He reduced live performances to focus more on writing and production in his home studio. This period of experimentation led to the release of self-produced albums like STANZE REMOTE (2006), a work that embraced 80s new wave sounds, and the EP DUE (2008).
The latter, while maintaining an independent approach and made with other musicians, leaned more towards pop, with a more open and catchy sound that found airplay on various radio stations. In 2012, he released Canzoni Inedite, an anthology of songs created during different periods, confirming his singer-songwriter vein.

“LA STAGIONE DECISIVA”: The Electronic Sound Evolution
2024 marks an important and long-awaited return for Marco De Luca with the release of his new album, LA STAGIONE DECISIVA. This work represents a significant sonic turning point, not just an evolution, but a stylistic reassertion. The album’s predominant feature is the increased and skillful use of keyboards across all tracks. This element gives the record a richer, more contemporary sound, while still maintaining the emotional imprint and alternative rock roots of the Abruzzo artist. The album is currently available on all digital stores.

“VIDEOSPAZZATURA”: A Prophetic and Highly Current Cry
The single chosen to introduce LA STAGIONE DECISIVA is “VIDEOSPAZZATURA”, a song that carries the legacy of his past. Originally part of the repertoire of his old band, Sine, it has been masterfully revisited and rearranged to harmonize with the album’s new sound, integrating the new electronic nuances.
What makes “VIDEOSPAZZATURA” incredibly relevant today is its lucid vision of the media future. Written a full thirty years ago, the track proves to be prophetic and sadly current. The lyrics are a clear and scathing denunciation of “pain television” , those formats that cynically exploit people’s suffering, drama, or fragility purely as a tool to boost audience ratings. A theme, unfortunately, more prevalent than ever today on our screens, from traditional channels to social networks.
Listening to “VIDEOSPAZZATURA” is not only a way to appreciate Marco De Luca’s compositional maturity and his ability to innovate his alternative rock roots, but also a direct invitation to critically reflect on the media content we consume daily.
